An imagetolayers.com alternative without a subscription
The same job — a flat image in, a layered PSD out with the background filled in — billed per output image instead of a monthly plan.
Short answer
imagetolayers.com is a subscription layer splitter: a free layered preview, then Creator at $19 a month ($10 billed yearly) or Studio at $49 ($30 billed yearly), with "Lossless 4K" output and an API on Studio. LayerPSD does the same core job — every element on its own transparent layer, the background repainted behind it, export as a layered PSD, a ZIP of PNGs or single PNGs — billed per output image: $0.018 on Seedream 5.0 Flash, so background + 4 layers costs $0.09 and a busy poster about $0.20. It can also export text as native Photoshop type layers (beta). Pick imagetolayers.com for 4K output, an API or steady daily volume; pick LayerPSD for occasional jobs and editable text.

Which one to pick
Both are reasonable choices; it depends on how often you split images and what you need in the file.
Pick imagetolayers.com if
- You want to look at the layers before paying anything: it offers a free layered preview.
- You need output above 2K: it states "Lossless 4K"; LayerPSD outputs 1K to 2K.
- You need an API: it comes with the Studio plan.
- You split images every day, where a flat monthly plan can cost less than paying per image.
Pick LayerPSD if
- You split a few images a month and do not want another subscription. $10 a month (Creator, billed yearly) pays for about 50 poster-sized splits on LayerPSD (about $0.20 each on Flash).
- You need the text editable: LayerPSD can export text as native Photoshop type with stroke, glow, shadow and gradient as layer styles (beta). imagetolayers.com does not say whether its text layers are editable type.
- You want to split a layer again: any layer can be split once more and the pieces nest under it.
- You want to see real results first: every sample on the examples page comes with its PSD, model, time and cost.
