What it is
LayerPSD is a browser tool that turns one flat image into a layered Photoshop file: every element on its own transparent layer, the background repainted behind it, and text optionally as editable type. It launched on 2026-09-27 at layerpsd.com and is billed per output image with no subscription.
It is an independent product. Photoshop and PSD are trademarks of Adobe Inc.; LayerPSD is not affiliated with or endorsed by Adobe.
How a split is produced
Your image goes from your browser through our gateway (gen.yingtu.ai) to the LaoZhang API, which runs Seedream 5.0 with layer decomposition enabled. The model returns each element as an RGBA image with a name and a bounding box, plus a background with the covered areas repainted. Your browser assembles the PSD, ZIP or PNG locally; no server stores your images or the finished files.
Text edits use Nano Banana 2, GPT Image 2 or Seedream 5.0 Flash. The optional editable-text export reads each text layer with a small vision model and writes native Photoshop type layers with effects as layer styles. It is marked beta because type is rebuilt, not recovered.
Where the numbers come from
Prices are LaoZhang API list prices on 2026-09-30: $0.018 per output image on Seedream 5.0 Flash and $0.12 on Pro. Timings (35–116 seconds) and layer counts come from the 10 real runs published on the examples page, each with its model, output count, time, cost and date. The same data is available as JSON and CSV.
Layer counts vary between runs of the same image; covered areas are repainted by the model, not recovered. We say so on every page rather than promising the original layers back.
Who runs it
LayerPSD is built and operated by a small independent team. There is no sales process and no account system of our own: the tool runs on your LaoZhang API key, or on the one-time free key we issue after Google sign-in. Questions, bug reports and deletion requests: hi@layerpsd.com.
